We have a fantastic opportunity for a Chef De Partie to join our team at The Jockey Club Rooms in Newmarket. Working under the general guidance & supervision of the Head Chef assisting in the preparation and service of all sections in the kitchen

Role summary

  • Working with the Head Chef and rest of the kitchen team
  • To maintain high standards in the quality of food regarding preparation and presentation
  • Working in all areas of the kitchen depending on the daily needs of the Head Chef
  • Observe all company food hygiene and health and safety policies
  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef when required
  • To check the completeness of all suppliers’ deliveries and the correctness of their invoices
  • To set out, maintain and monitor high standards of cooking and presentation
  • Be aware of the current food trends with regards to presentation and style
  • Assist with new menu ideas and menu design
  • Ensuring the kitchen is left clean and tidy at all times
  • Ensuring that all food is correctly wrapped, labelled and stored away for each event
  • Ensure that all completed jobs are checked of before each event
  • To work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef at each event to ensure that the function runs smoothly

The successful candidate will have;

  • Good knowledge of all sections within the kitchen
  • Strong competency in food preparation
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Food Hygiene
  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, in professional cookery & Food safety Level 2
  • Previously Senior Commis Chef/Chef de Partie in a busy hotel or banqueting environment
  • Working within a commercial kitchen environment
  • Ability to cook to a high standard
  • Full comfortable with Food Safety procedures
  • Able to work well in high pressured environment

The successful candidate will be required to work evenings and weekends to support racing when necessary.
