Become a part of the EIS Performance Data Team.

Do you want to play a vital role in supporting the continued success of Team GB at future Olympic and Paralympic Games?

We are looking for people that can bring skills and passion to a challenging and constantly evolving elite sport environment, who have the ingenuity and creativity to turn data science theory into practical solutions that enlightens and empowers Olympic and Paralympic performance teams.

About us

Data drives every part of life from what we buy to what we watch. In sport, it isn’t a new tactic to throw in the mix or even a new discipline: it has the potential to inform every decision we make. Those that adapt fastest will have a competitive advantage. Our mission is to help British Olympic and Paralympic performance teams to adapt fast to ensure our athletes maintain their world-leading edge.

A central team within the EIS, we enable and empower people to create performance insight from data. We operate across the UK, providing data science support to all British Olympic and Paralympic teams, working directly with Performance Directors, Coaches and Performance Support staff.

Role Summary

You will join an agile software development team delivering the on-going success and continuous improvement of the EIS Performance Data Management System (PDMS), which enables the capture, management and analysis of data that is generated by EIS practitioners, elite athletes and coaches across Olympic and Paralympic sports.

This role offers the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including planning, design, development and delivery of software solutions used by the UK’s high-performance sport system. We are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to service the needs of elite sport staff and athletes with innovative software.

You will consider yourself to have a strong desire for innovation, creativity and attention to detail, enabling you to play an integral role in the development of new features, the enhancement and integration of existing systems along with creating new products.

Being comfortable with uncertainty and problem solving will allow you to see the potential of an idea and work through the challenges along the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Software development for applications and products throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop a technical understanding of existing applications and products, to provide effective support for technical queries, live incidents and issues.
  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the agile development team including Business Analyst, Test Analyst and 3rd party development support partners.
  • Define the appropriate delivery, deployment approach and estimation for new features and existing feature enhancements.
  • Work closely with the Senior Developer to identify new opportunities and technical improvements
  • Ensure consistently high-quality output, with a commitment to continuous improvement, including professional development.
  • Communicate credibly with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple organisations, maintaining relationships with key project stakeholders.
  • Play an active role in agile meeting ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, review and retrospective sessions.
  • Develop relationships with the wider organisation to understand data challenges and how software can be used within the high-performance system.
