The Buyer/Purchasing Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining purchase orders (POs), liaising with suppliers regarding schedules and performance, and managing shipping/logistics documentation.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Enter purchase orders in Oracle
- Create monthly POs and work with suppliers to confirm ex-factory schedules
- Update actual shipment dates in Oracle, close and release invoice for drop shipments
- Expedite schedules and regularly communicate with Planning to support ongoing PO maintenance
- Conduct daily reviews and updates of delivery schedules within CSE system, and ensure that Oracle and CSE PO data align
- Support logistics forecasts with suppliers and logistics teams to ensure transit schedules are achieved.
- Use relevant applications (Excel, Business Objects, DOMO) to create reports and conduct necessary analysis
- ASN management and shipment documentation follow up with Suppliers, Logistics, Distribution Center and Finance teams
- Project maintenance and/or ad hoc assignments to achieve departmental goals
- Follow up on cases requested by internal customers.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to look at numbers/reports and draw conclusions about actions to be taken
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to attend to multiple concurrent tasks
- Commitment to meeting absolute deadlines
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Interpersonal skills suited to dealing courteously and professionally with external business contacts and many internal contacts within the organization
- Computer literate; Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as reporting applications (Business Objects, DOMO)
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- Degree in business, supply chain or other relevant field
- 2+ years of professional experience in related buying role
- Experience with manufacturing purchasing preferred
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Extensive computer and phone usage
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
