The Position

The Women’s Assistant Coach will significantly impact on the development of the most able female cricketers at Surrey County Cricket Club. Reporting to the Head Coach, the successful candidate in the role of Women’s Assistant Coach will be a key member of the performance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for running the Surrey Women’s Second XI, providing support to the Head Coach with day-to-day leadership, delivery and planning for the First Team squad as well as assist the Pathway Lead with delivery for the Academy squad.

The individual will have coaching experience and proven expertise of working with and developing elite cricketers, alongside a track record of developing talented young players into elite senior cricketers. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, motivated, and committed to making a difference.

The role will be based at the Kia Oval, Kennington and will also require travel throughout the county. The post holder will be expected to work evenings, weekends and possibly Bank Holidays. This role will also require regular travel throughout the U.K during the Cricket season.

What you’ll do

•Provide specialist bowling support across Surrey Women’s First Team and Academy squads.
•Lead on the delivery of Surrey Women’s 2nd XI. This will include ensuring the delivery of a robust 2nd XI programme, selection decisions and attending match days.
•Assist the Head Coach in preparing, developing and supporting the needs of the professional squad, attending all training and fixtures throughout the year
•Support the Pathway Lead in planning and delivery of training sessions, in addition to attending training and fixtures (where the schedule allows). The expectation is to attend one academy training session per week as a minimum.
•Liaise with the Head Coach, Pathway Lead, Science and Medicine Department and the rest of the coaching team on the performance of individual players and their suitability for selection
•Implement, monitor, and review individual performance plans for the First Team squad, as well as having awareness of Academy bowler development plans – keeping a close eye on future talent
•Work with the Bowling Lead to ensure effective management of seam bowler’s workloads and monitoring

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:

Essential:

•Qualified to at least ECB Level 3 (or international equivalent)
•Satisfactory DBS certificate
•Have previous experience coaching a professional team or county pathway
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•High levels of energy and enthusiasm
•Excellent time management and highly organised
•Minimum of Safeguarding Young Cricketers certificate and awareness and experience of safeguarding principles
•Excellent IT skills with competent ability using Microsoft Office programmes
•Full Driving License
