SPORTS LEADER – Casual/part-time

Role Outline:

We are looking for individuals interested in the sport sector in and around the above locations to deliver multi-sport recreational sports to vulnerable children and adults each week. The Sport Leader would travel to the site and deliver to a group of mixed age and ability individuals or support other sports leaders to deliver their sport sessions. You must be energetic, adaptable, fun and open to feedback to improve. Training will be provided to help Sport Leaders run enjoyable and inclusive sport for all.
You’ll be working on the incredible ARAP programme to bring fun, inclusive sports sessions to vulnerable children and adults from Afghanistan, now living in the UK after supporting the UK Government and Ministry of Defence. These families, who are eligible for relocation through the Ministry of Defence and Home Office, may not have had many chances to experience activities like this before. By using sports as a tool, we aim to bring joy, create opportunities, and build connections for these vulnerable individuals, offering them a positive and uplifting experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a fun and inclusive sports provision to a wide range of demographics.
  • Adapt a session based on the needs of those you are delivering to.
  • Liaise with on-site staff to ensure sessions meet the needs of the individuals and sessions run smoothly.
  • Keep attendance records of those who attended the session and report this in a timely manner.
  • Ensure sessions are safe and incident/accidents are reported in a timely manner.

Must Haves:

  • Fun and enthusiastic.
  • An understanding and passion for the benefits that sport can have on an individual’s mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build a rapport quickly.
  • Sensitivity to other’s cultures, beliefs and traditions.
  • Open to feedback.
  • Agile, adaptable with the ability to think on your feet.

Nice to Haves:

  • Have gained or are working towards a relevant degree (e.g sports coaching, sports science etc.).
  • Level 1 coaching qualification.
  • Experience of casual sports coaching or delivering engaging workshops to adults and/or children.
  • A full driving license (there is an expectation that you will have to travel to delivery sites).
  • First aid qualified.
