What will you be doing?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Disability Football Coach to come on board and join the Saints Foundation. This role will involve delivering football sessions to young people and adults with sensory and physical impairments in accordance with the standards and professionalism set out by Saints Foundation.

You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of football/sport sessions for the SaintsAbility programme. The project aims to break down barriers and provide positive opportunities to people living with a disability to support them to lead active and independent lives.

Supporting the Inclusion Coordinator to deliver the SaintsAbility programme across Southampton, ensuring sessions are age appropriate, meet the needs of individuals and groups, and are inclusive, fun and adaptable.

If you like creating fun coaching sessions for participants, have an optimistic and approachable personality, good communication skills, and previous experience working with people with disabilities, then you’re the person we’re looking for. You have a passion for coaching football/sports and for bringing positive energy in every session.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in working with people with disabilities.

  • Experience delivering sporting sessions in a community setting.

  • Ability to engage positively with hard-to-reach groups & effectively deal with situations of a challenging nature.

Essential Qualifications:

  • FA Level 2 Award in Coaching Football or FA Level 1 Award in Coaching Football working towards the new UEFA C Licence (formerly called FA Level 2 Award in Coaching Football)

  • Up to date, relevant certifications in Emergency First Aid and Safeguarding.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to engage positively with hard-to-reach groups.

  • Ability to build a strong rapport with colleagues and young people with varying needs.

  • An understanding of the challenges faced by young people living in Southampton.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage own timetable and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
