As the national governing body for sail racing, RIBS and sports boats, as well as dinghy, motor and sail cruising, the Royal Yachting Association is committed to enabling our people to fulfil their potential and representing the recreational boating needs of our members and partners. Our plans for growth mean we’re looking for a Head of Public Relations & Strategic Engagement to join our team.

You will have responsibility for leading the development and implementation of effective PR & Strategic Engagement programmes to support our reputation and enable the delivery of RYA’s future strategy and related business plans. You will demonstrate the technical skills expected of a PR professional as you lead and develop a high-performing team to deliver a PR strategy and stakeholder engagement programme supporting the RYA’s strategic priorities. You will be able to draw on your effective communication and influencing skills, and will excel in crisis and issue management by nurturing key relationships and understanding the importance of early engagement. Critical will be your ability to navigate a complex stakeholder and regulatory landscape, always monitoring and being agile to change when necessary. You will be a strategic thinker, but action orientated happy to roll up your sleeves and support others to deliver.

You will have a strong commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion. Cultural sensitivity, strong critical listening and emotional intelligence will be amongst your suite of qualities. You will be supported in this role by the Director of External Affairs, a Chartered PR and mentor who actively encourages professional development at all levels and works collaboratively across the organisation to ensure integration, shared learning and innovation.
