Here at Roundhegians Rugby Club we are seeking for a Sports Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our Rugby Union Team.

We are looking for qualified Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to support our two competitive men’s squads on training and match days. We are seeking someone with Pitchside Qualifications to administer First Aid on match days. This would be an ideal post for an enthusiastic Graduate Sports Therapist or Chartered Physiotherapist looking to get into Rugby and Sports Injuries.

The Physio team currently run on a Wednesday evening, with match days on Saturday’s.

Roundhegians Rugby Club is a friendly, flexible, inclusive and ambitious club looking to drive standards, enhance the level of care and support for all players, to ensure minimal injury and injury prevention throughout the upcoming season 2024/25.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries to players, utilising a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Plan and deliver rehabilitation programs tailored to individual players' needs during evening clinic.
  • Administer pitch-side first aid and immediate care for players during match days (Saturday), ensuring player safety.
  • Ability to react appropriately, with composure, in emergency aid scenarios.
  • Conduct pre-event massage and taping/strapping to prepare players for matches.
  • Maintain accurate recording of medical notes, including injury documentation, treatment plans, and rehabilitation progress.
  • Liaise with coaching staff and lead physio to ensure coordinated care for players
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and rugby club staff to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.
  • Provide pre-match and post-match therapeutic treatments to players to optimise performance and facilitate recovery.
  • Educate players on injury prevention techniques, rehabilitation exercises, self-management strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in sports therapy and physiotherapy research and techniques, implementing best practices into clinical care for rugby injuries.
  • Covering home and away fixtures.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and rugby club staff.
  • BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy/Sport Therapy/Sports Rehabilitation (Essential)
  • HCPC registration and CSP membership if Physiotherapist (Essential)
  • SST/BASRAT membership if Sports Therapist/Sports Rehabilitator (Essential)
  • Public liability/medical malpractice insurance (Essential)
  • Knowledge of sports specific taping (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of or previous experience working within a contact sports (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of sports-related injuries, assessment techniques, and rehabilitation protocols.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the rugby club's schedule (Essential)
  • CPR and first aid certification (Must hold certification before the season begins August 2024)
