We are looking for a highly motivated Data Scientist to join the Machine Learning and Data Science Team and contribute state-of-the-art Machine Learning techniques with the goal of improving overall car performance.
Working within the Technology & Analysis Tools department from our Milton Keynes campus, our mission is to develop the technology that enables our engineers to develop championship winning Formula 1 cars. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to technology that will define the way we exploit car performance in the future.
The impact you will have
- Develop Machine Learning and Data Science tools that improve our understanding of vehicle performance and design
- Collaborate with stakeholders and engineers in the Vehicle Performance, Aerodynamics, Vehicle Design and Power Unit departments to understand how Data Science can enhance existing practices
- Work alongside a team of highly skilled software engineers to put models into productions
- Review state-of-art literature and research in domains including Linear Algebra, Optimization, Timeseries, Computer Vision and NLP
- Present work with effective communication, writing and visualisation to a wide range of stakeholders
- Lead by example with best practices in analysis, programming and version control
What we look for
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally a MSc or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Engineering or similar quantitative field
- You will have previous experince within industry (or the equivalent in a post-Doctoral position)
- Experience working with and analysing large datasets and timeseries data
- Knowledge of a wide range of Machine Learning and Data Science techniques, including Optimization, Inference and Deep Learning
- Proficiency in Python (and other programming languages desirable) and knowledge of one or more Machine Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and/or PyTorch
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of working successfully with stakeholders (from other disciplines)
Bonus points for
- Being interested in Formula 1 racing!
- Possessing an understanding of vehicle dynamics and/or aerodynamics
- Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration frameworks like Docker and Kubernetes
