Role Purpose:
Leading the newly formed Coach Developer Team, the Professional Coaching Workforce Development Manager will work alongside the Coaching Director and Head of Coaching & Development to deliver a comprehensive coach development programme that will support the development of a professional coaching workforce across PGMOL, at the cutting edge of the delivery of coaching services. The role will support the delivery of coaching across PGMOL, as well as leading the quality assurance of coaching development and support.
Main Duties (includes but are not limited to):
Curriculum development
- Construct a coach development curriculum and build a schedule of coach development opportunities for PGMOL coaches to engage with on a needs-driven basis
- Contribute to the development of the Match Official learning & development curriculum across PGMOL
- Develop and maintain appropriate networks that ensures that PGMOL coach development is shaped by the latest thinking within performance sport and other high-performance environments
- Build effective relationships with experts in the field to support the delivery of PGMOL coaching provision
Coach development delivery
- Support the PGMOL coaching team to deliver insight-led coaching support to their match officials by leading a needs-led coach development curriculum
- Support the delivery of blended coach development sessions that meet professional standards
- Support the delivery of in-person and remote learning as well as contributing towards the development and review of digital learning resources
- Support the generation of feedback to the coaching team following match day coaching and/or training interventions
Leadership & supervision
- Supervise the work programmes of the Coach Developer team, working with the coaches across PGMOL
- Performance management of the coach developer team in line with PGMOL processes, including Developmental Action Planning
- Support PGMOL coaches and performance support staff in key areas of their development where appropriate
- Implement processes and systems to improve efficiency, collaboration and communication across the coaching team
- Support the PGMOL coaches in the Developmental Action Planning with their match official groups
- Managing existing and new stakeholder relationships involved in the delivery of coaching support
Quality assurance
- Attend match official training events to ensure the levels of coaching support are in line with PGMOL expectations and aligned to internal Quality Assurance framework
- Lead the evaluation process in relation to the coaching support
- Support the PGMOL coaching teams by coordinating and sharing the outcomes of the Match Official feedback from training events
- Provide regular updates on progress to the Coaching Director and Head of Coaching & Development
Professional Development support
- Devise CPD structure & framework for coaching, performance support, leadership & management
- Support PGMOL colleagues in their engagement with the CPD framework
- Any other reasonable duties as defined by the Coaching Director or the Head of Coaching & Development
Person Specification
Essential:
Qualifications/experience:
- Significant experience of coach education and development within a high-performance environment
- Experience in the provision of coaching to athletes, coaches or a high-performance workforce to improve performance.
- Evidence of the ability to seek out new knowledge and expertise to positively influence innovative and world-class coach development and performance programmes
- Experience in learning, curriculum design & delivery of learning programmes
- Appropriate teaching and/or coaching qualifications
- Experience in the delivery of mentoring and/or coaching support
- Experience of designing, implementing, and evaluating coach education programmes
- Experience of collaborative Developmental Action Planning
- Experience in the delivery of digital learning opportunities
Knowledge:
- High level understanding of how coaching support integrates with the overall development of elite sports performers
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of current approaches to world-class coach development
- Understanding of pedagogy and the principles of adult learning and how they relate to the development of sports coaches
- Understanding of the principles supporting the development of effective digital learning
Skills:
