Job Purpose

To provide comprehensive performance psychology support across Northamptonshire CCC’s cricket programme, enhancing players’ mental resilience, performance, and overall well-being. This role involves strategic oversight, practical delivery. Collaboration with coaches, support staff, and external partners is paramount to integrate psychological aspects into everydat training and development of NCCC players.

Key Responsibilities


• Plan and deliver a performance psychology strategy to move the club forward and drive high performance standards utilising best practices.
• Influence the environment and culture with psychological practice that promotes player performance and well being both on and off the field.
• Support the psychological needs of players within the team environment, encompassing performance and well-being.
• Ensure coaches and support staff work collaboratively with performance psychology to integrate psychological aspects into all training and development programmes.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team to contribute to and deliver player development plans in line with the overall performance strategy.
• Offer on-site support during training and game environments to help players implement mental skills and performance psychology strategies.
• Work collaboratively with Head Coach, Head of Science and Medicine and CMO alongside any external clinical psychologists to ensure high levels of clinical care, wellbeing and mental health support.
• Provide subject matter expertise to the County Science and Medicine Audit & Review actively participating where required.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including the ECB, coaches, and medical staff.

Knowledge and Experience Required

Essential:

• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Sports and Exercise Psychologist.
• Extensive experience working in elite team sport, including major tournaments and events.
• Significant experience working within a multidisciplinary team and delivering both group and individual work.
• Enhanced DBS.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

• Experience in delivering performance psychology and leading initiatives related to performance psychology and culture within elite sporting pathways.
• Training in psychology profiling tools (e.g., MBTI, Spotlight).
