Description

The NSW Institute of Sport [NSWIS] is a high performance sporting organisation that supports Australian athletes to become world’s best. We reach all regions of NSW with an Olympic and Paralympic training facility based at Sydney Olympic Park and high performance hubs across NSW that provide world class daily training environments for our athletes and coaches. Our experts work in collaboration with partners within the national sporting system to create and deliver high performance support services and environments to prepare athletes and coaches for international competition.

About the role

This role involves the integration of nutritional services in sports daily training environments to provide proactive, individualised and optimal nutrition strategies as part of a holistic, periodised plan for athlete development.

This role will require the strategic delivery of nutritional support to a range of categorised athletes from developing adolescent athletes through to Podium athletes. This role is therefore a recognised working with children role. This role is joint funded and will support a number of sports based out of NSWIS Head Quarters (Sydney Olympic Park) and will also provide dedicated support to the National Canoe Slalom team, based out of the National Centre of Excellence (Penrith White Water Stadium).

As part of support for the National Canoe Slalom team leadership and direction around meal planning and cooking at selected camps and competitions will be required; along with the ability to travel and support the team for up to two weeks at a time for a maximum of two occasions per calendar year.

This role adheres to the NSWIS core servicing model in the support provision across athlete categorization levels and is required to perform project work (eg. expert advice and opinion, presentations and workshops) with NSWIS industry partners and stakeholders.

This is a fulltime position, offering a competitive salary range $102,790 - $107,534 plus superannuation. The contract period is until 31 December 2024 in line with the Olympic cycle

About you

  • 3+ years’ experience in the provision and application of sports nutrition services to high performance athlete
  • Proven success in utilising nutrition knowledge for planning, periodising and managing athletes across seasons/campaigns at national or international levels
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a multi-disciplinary environment with high performance teams including coaches and athletes
  • Proven ability to analyse, interpret, summarise and communicate relevant data/results to athletes and coaches for improved performance
  • The ability to initially travel for 2 weeks at a time on no more than 2 occasions per year

Essential Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Nutrition/Dietetics from a DAA accredited course (Masters desirable)
  • Qualifications, experience or undergraduate degree in exercise science or exercise physiology (desirable)
  • Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD)
  • Accredited Sports Dietitian and Member of Sports Dietitian Australia (AccSD)
  • ISAK Anthropometry Level 1
  • Sport Integrity Australia - Anti-Doping Fundamentals and annual update 2022.
  • Sport Integrity Australia – PBTR – Child Protection and Safeguarding
