The Role:

The National Development Manager will have ownership, accountability, and responsibility for leading the successful delivery of national strategies in order to deliver Netball Scotland’s (NS’) corporate strategy.

Strategic Priorities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and activation of the Education Strategy which increases the quality and quantity of coaches, officials & workforce across the domestic and performance pathways.
  • Lead the development, and implementation of the Volunteer Strategy to support growth and development of the sport across Scotland.
  • Lead the development and activation of a domestic Competition Framework which supports and aligns to the ambitions of the performance pathway.
  • Lead on the planning and delivery of national development projects which support Netball Scotland’s strategic priorities.

Operational Priorities

Operational Excellence

  • Line-manage, lead, and motivate the Education & Workforce Officer responsible for administration and coordination of all tasks related to Education and Training courses, workshops, events, and competitions.
  • Line-manage, lead, and motivate a high performing team of Tutors & Assessors responsible for educating and training a network of volunteers and professionals to support the needs of the sport across Scotland.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Development, Head of Growth and Membership & Ticketing Manager to utilise data, trend analysis and insights to effectively plan and forecast development operational plans and KPIs in line with annual budget and operational planning process.
  • Work collaboratively with National Development Managers (NDMs) and Netball Development Officers (NDOs) to activate local delivery of education and training and promote volunteer and competition opportunities.
  • Regularly review plans to ensure objectives are being delivered, and to ensure activity is effective and impactful.
  • Establish and manage effective relationships with key external partners, stakeholders, and European/International netball federations to inform and influence their agendas to benefit NS and its people, and to enhance NS’ education proposition for members, workforce, and volunteers.
  • Be the lead contact for NS for a portfolio of local authority partners.
  • Represent NS at Local, Regional & National Forums.
  • Prepare informative reports for the Board, CEO, Director of Development, and other key partners/stakeholders against key performance indicators as required.
  • Strive to deliver a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and purpose driven approach.

Education & Training

  • Lead on all product innovation and development, ensuring that NS remains at the forefront of new technologies, advancements and legislative/regulatory developments in sports education and training.
  • Lead the management, review and evaluation of education systems and processes to ensure optimum efficiencies, impact, and productivity.
  • Lead the review, creation, and development of resource content to ensure it meets the needs of a growing membership and pathway.
  • Lead the creation and management of a portfolio of innovative and engaging educational resources, products, programmes, and training opportunities to increase the quality and quantity of workforce and drive additional income streams.
  • Lead on training and development of Tutors, Assessors, Match Bench Officials and Volunteers to support delivery of a performing pathway.
  • Lead on provision of education and training needs of the Elite Coach Mentoring & Pathway to Elite Development Programmes with a key focus on, but not limited to, leadership qualities & behaviours and providing access to opportunities to progress tactical and technical knowledge.
  • Support all areas of the business to ensure appropriate, effective education & development products and programmes are delivered as required.
