The participation team connect and engage with all areas of Community rugby league to deliver a safe, enjoyable community friendly experience. The team provides a number of opportunities across schools, junior league and the volunteer network including school introductory programs and competitions, teacher support and training, volunteer education and resources as well as world class player retention programs and playing formats. The NRL WA team purpose is to create lifelong engagement in Rugby League state-wide across WA and to continue to promote and grow the sport in our State.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Referee and Club Development Coordinator to join the team reporting to the General Manager – Western Australia. The Referee and Club Development Coordinator role will improve referee recruitment, retention, education and skill levels, pathway development, deployment and assessment as well as managing programs that develop club volunteer workforces, recruitment, retention & related compliance. It also will oversee training & education of Sports Trainers and be actively involved in the coordination & activation of NRL Community enrichment programs such as State of Mind.
The successful applicant will have a passion for Rugby League and increasing the skill levels and improving retention of Rugby League Referees. A strong communicator who can build strong relationships with key stakeholders. You will be highly organised and have strong knowledge of Rugby League, Rugby League Refereeing and Community Rugby League’s administration processes.
In the role you will work on:
- Coordination of Referees across the state competitions
- Training and upskilling of referee’s male and female of all age groups
- Coordination of Sports Trainer education and compliance
- Liaising with Rugby League clubs to review and advise on how to improve governance and efficiencies in key areas
- Helping to coordinate and deliver key Community enrichment programs across the state
Ideally you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in sports management or equivalent is highly desirable
- Experience working in a sports industry and/ or in a volunteer capacity for a community sport
- Strong knowledge of refereeing in the sport of Rugby League
- Understanding of Community Rugby League administration processes including knowledge of sports trainer courses
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management abilities
- Highly effective communication and relationship building skills
- Working with Children Check and previous experience working with children and young people
