To deliver first-class coaching & competition programmes for county/regional/national level tennis players, to help position Millfield at the forefront of Schools Tennis.


  • To deliver weekly individual and squad training sessions to meet the needs of students within Millfield Tennis’ competition & pathway groups
  • Plan, implement & constantly review detailed individualised development plans (short- term & long-term) for students you are working with on a 1:1 basis, providing the highest standards of coaching & support
  • Attend priority individual & team competitions as part of the students’ annual competitive schedules
  • To build & maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in the students’ development both on & off the court (parents, HSMs, external coaches etc)
  • In collaboration with the Head of Tennis and the current coaching team, contribute to the development of a cohesive pathway of long-term development with specific links to junior development squads, Millfield Prep School & RPDCs
  • Project management and delivery of tournament trips/visits and team fixtures
  • To ensure all school Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Critical Incident, Registers and other relevant policies and processes are always adhered to in the delivery of coaching and other support services
  • Contribute to the wider development of tennis at Millfield School by supporting with the delivery of Games Tennis during Summer term, and other key events throughout the academic year
  • Contribute to the vibrant multisport coaching community and hence the development of Millfield’s overall performance sports environment
  • Engage actively in continuous personal development and the development of Millfield Sport



  • LTA accredited L4 Senior Performance Coach (or in the process of completing)
  • Proven track record in the long-term development of regional/national level tennis players
  • Thorough understanding of the LTA Performance Pathway
  • An excellent and up-to-date understanding of the current landscape in performance tennis, ages 12-18
  • Proven ability to be able to communicate effectively with parents, children, external coaches, and management
  • Willingness to support students at domestic and/or international competitions in weekends/holidays as appropriate
  • A desire to evolve, build the department, be open minded and the ability to listen to staff and students
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Full UK driving licence


  • Strong playing background (junior/senior international level)
  • Experience of and empathy for integrating a tennis programme into an educational environment
  • An active member of the LTA’s Performance Coaching Network
