Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation (MFCF) is the Club’s independent charity of MFC established in 1996 by Club Chairperson, Steve Gibson. The Foundation uses the power of the MFC brand to engage with the community to provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people and adults to maximise their potential to achieve.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be involved in a growing and passionate team within an award-winning charity and be involved with a Premier League funded programme. In this role you will use the influence of sport to deliver positive change in the lives and behaviours of young people within the local community. You will impact our communities and help create a more inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment for all.
Working closely with the Youth Engagement Coordinator, MFC Foundation delivery staff, other Premier League Kicks casual coaches and volunteers. As a role model for the Foundation, the Casual Coach will be responsible for delivering sports provisions and educational workshops within local communities across Teesside predominantly on Premier League Kicks programme. There are opportunities of gaining further training and knowledge in youth work and safeguarding children.

DUTIES

  • Deliver sports provision within local communities to young people aged 8-18 years and supporting the running of tournaments, events and experience days
  • Help set up equipment prior to sessions start time, organise participants into games and manage these games
  • Greet young people upon arrival and ensure positive rapport is built with participants by engaging in regular conversation
  • Ensure high standards of behaviour are maintained by participants and staff
  • Develop a good level of understanding of social inclusion and the issues facing young people from disadvantaged communities they are based in.
  • Demonstrate effective and consistent safeguarding and health and safety practice, at all times.
  • Support the collection of data and outcomes, including completed consent forms, registers of attendance, outcomes survey forms and incident report forms.
  • Work with other projects and teams to contribute to a coordinated approach including continuous professional development, quality assurance, training and events

CANDIDATES MUST:

  • Minimum of UKCC Level 1 Football or other sport equivalent
  • Be flexible since hours worked will also include some evenings
  • Have experience delivering in a community setting and an understanding and passion for improving the ability, opportunity and dignity of disadvantaged people and under-represented groups or individuals in our communities
  • Have excellent communication skills and experience of managing and improving challenging behaviour
  • A valid driving licence, with access to own transport and willing to travel across the Tees Valley and be eligible to work in the UK
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and how they relate to the role
  • Hold a certificate in First Aid and Safeguarding, or required to complete
  • Be eligible to work in the UK
