At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and rising star George Russell.
The Team has set a new benchmark for Formula One success during the sport’s current Hybrid era, winning consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the Constructors’ Championship in 2021.
You'll be working to build a world-class Esports team within Mercedes Motorsport! You will be responsible for the management and delivery of the Esports programme. Focusing on developing and executing processes to improve driver performance and optimise event results.
The role:
- Objectively improve driver performance using a data driven approach during training sessions and competitions using a variety of sources. Such as video for line comparison, delta time review, data and telemetry.
- Be able to identify and develop new methodologies to improve performance (driver and setup) across the spectrum of platforms we compete on.
- To develop tools to increase efficiency and quality of the processes for data review.
- To manage the scheduling of the eSports programme ensuring participation in primary competitions whilst also exploring other regular events to participate in.
- To support live competitions with strategy optimisation from the eSports arena with direct communication to the drivers.
- To build and maintain relationships with the appropriate stakeholders both internally globally to maximise the performance of the team, including 3rd party contractors, commercial partners and in the wider gaming community.
- To coordinate the development of the team’s equipment to remain best-in-class
What we are looking for:
- Strong academic background with an Engineering Degree (2:1 minimum grade) or equivalent.
- Ability to analyse and communicate complex data in a concise manner to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Experience with scripting languages for data processing and visualisation.
- Ability to work under pressure in a competitive environment.
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams to tight deadlines and under minimal supervision.
- Highly motivated and focused self-starter who thrives in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, and comfort addressing engineering topics to expert and non-expert audiences.
- Interest and engagement with competitive gaming at a professional level (desirable)
