The Role

Join Manchester City Academy as a YDP Performance Analyst and play a key role in shaping the future of elite youth football.
Manchester City’s Performance Analysis and Insights strategy is built around innovation, evidence-based decision-making, and a passion for player development. In this role, you will lead the delivery of bespoke performance analysis across the Upper Youth Development Phase (U15–U16), providing detailed insights that directly impact training, match performance, and individual learning plans. Working closely with coaches and multidisciplinary teams, you will design and present technical and tactical analysis, drive player reviews, and contribute to data-driven methods that enhance player profiling and progression.

Your Impact

  • Deliver high-quality performance analysis across the Youth Development Phase (U15–U16) in line with Manchester City’s Performance Analysis and Insights Strategy.
  • Analyse player development through training and match performance to inform Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), transitions, and player pathways.
  • Develop and maintain player databases and action trackers to monitor progress and support evidence-based development.
  • Present data-driven insights and deliver engaging analysis sessions that enhance player understanding, learning, and feedback.
  • Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team to integrate analysis into coaching practice and evolve data-led approaches to player development.
  • Contribute to academy-wide projects, including video library development and strategic initiatives, supporting continuous improvement across the analysis department.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Degree in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, or Coaching, with significant experience providing analysis support in youth or professional football.
  • Strong understanding of football tactics, data management, and insights reporting, with a clear focus on player development.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and act as a positive role model for players.
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive mindset, and an analytical, solution-focused approach.
  • High competence in using video and data to deliver engaging, actionable feedback, with good knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Performance Analysis, Sports Science, or Coaching.
  • Experience working within an elite youth development environment.
  • Proficiency in creating dashboards (e.g., Tableau) and familiarity with industry-standard performance analysis tools.
  • Understanding of psychological profiling, learning styles, and how these influence player development.
