Do you thrive on leading and developing young talent within our rugby community?

Manawatū Rugby Union are seeking an Academy Lead with great character, passion and fresh perspective.

The key purposes of the role are to:

  • Identification of talented young rugby players from Under 16 age level.
  • Identification of talented young athletes (other than those already involved in rugby) who can be encouraged to consider rugby as their chosen sport.
  • Establish and develop a training environment for each age group through to Turbos and Cyclones selection.
  • Provide for the holistic well-being of these athletes to be the best they can on and off the field, helping them to achieve and be successful in rugby, employment and education.
  • Management of the development programme to include sports psychology, mental skills, nutrition, self-responsibility, strength and conditioning, tactical and technical development.
  • Work closely with the respective men’s and women’s Head Coach and their Assistants to determine the goals and aspirations of the Performance Team and in the identification of players.
  • Meet all NZ Rugby reporting requirements.

About MRU:

The Manawatū Rugby Union's purpose is to lead, grow and support rugby in Manawatū. That includes the 5500 community participants in our region each year along with our representative programmes and our two flagship teams the Cyclones and the Turbos.
