Leinster Rugby is seeking applications for the position of Business Development & Sponsorship Executive.

The Business Development and Sponsorship Executive will be responsible for driving new revenue through Corporate Ticket Sales, Signage, Programme Ads, Licencing and Corporate Hospitality through prospecting and engaging new potential customers, growing the customer base and achieving the KPIs set on a monthly basis for sales delivery and revenues generated.

The successful candidate will also support the management of Leinster Rugby’s sponsorship programme to maximise brand and commercial opportunities for our partners, our sponsors and Leinster Rugby.

This position is being offered as a full time, 2 year fixed term contract.

POSITION TITLE: Business Development & Sponsorship Executive

ROLE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION

Leinster Rugby is one of four professional provincial rugby teams in Ireland. As well as running a professional rugby team, Leinster Rugby also enjoys an important dual mandate to encourage, promote and grow the participation in and playing of rugby across the province of Leinster. At Leinster Rugby, how we do our job is equally as important as what we achieve. We strive to create positive engagement with a wide group of stakeholders in the pursuit of excellence at all levels of our twelve-county community. Our Commercial & Marketing Team are responsible for generating the revenues necessary to support and grow our domestic, community and professional rugby programmes.

Responsible for driving new revenue through Corporate Ticket Sales, Signage, Programme Ads, Licencing and Corporate Hospitality through prospecting and engaging new potential customers, growing the customer base and achieving the KPIs set on a monthly basis for sales delivery and revenues generated. The successful candidate will also support the management of Leinster Rugby’s sponsorship programme to maximise brand and commercial opportunities for our partners, our sponsors and Leinster Rugby.

As Business Development and Sponsorship Executive you will be expected to establish yourself as a trusted and reliable advisor to key stakeholders, help plan and deliver sponsor activations, and ensure agreed targets are met on time and within budget. A creative thinker, you will be expected to be both proactive and responsive when it comes to promoting Leinster Rugby’s sponsorship strategy.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Operational: Sponsorship Manager, Leinster Rugby

Functional: Head of Commercial and Marketing, Leinster Rugby

KEY QUALITIES

Essential:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, sales, business administration or a related field of study.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a sales role, and across the following areas:
    • Sponsorship sales and management
    • Agency account sales and management
    • Events Operations, Hospitality & Management
  • Must demonstrate strong sales, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to build rapport and effective relationships quickly.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be very well organised and have the aptitude to multitask under pressure.
  • Good IT Skills and proficient in all Microsoft Office packages (word, outlook, excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Full clean drivers’ licence and access to own vehicle with valid NCT.

Desirable:

  • Self-starter, happy to take initiative and run with a project from start to finish.
  • A team player who enjoys collaboration and is eager to support their colleagues.
  • Proactive and self-sufficient and able to manage their own workload on a daily basis.
  • Be keen to grow into the position and earn responsibility quickly.

RESPONSIBILITIES

New Revenue

  • Drive new revenue through Corporate Ticket Sales, Signage, Programme Ads, Licencing and Corporate Hospitality.
  • Utilising all available CRM and supporter insights to target prospective sales leads.
  • Maximising the attendances and revenue from each Leinster home fixture.
  • Strategic account development of corporate and group bookings.
  • Source, qualify and develop new leads not currently associated with Leinster Rugby.
  • Create, drive and own the Leinster Rugby Corporate Hospitality Offering.

Reporting

  • Sales analysis planning and reporting aimed at maximising profitability.
  • Support the marketing and commercial objectives of the club with relevant sales reports and analysis.
  • Support the Ticket Manager during key sales windows prior to major fixtures.

Sponsorship support

  • Manage the prospecting of new potential partners and devise and present sponsor activation value statements when required.
  • Attend and provide assistance at match day and other events to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Project & Event Management

  • Proactively plan and execute sponsor activations and events across the season.
  • Create and develop new opportunities both physical and virtual, to showcase key partnerships and to enhance the value and experience for our Season Ticket and Official Membership holders.
  • Support execution of the Annual Awards Ball including table sales.

Budgets

  • Working to meet weekly, monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Responsible for ensuring all invoicing and expenses associated with our sales programme are reconciled in a timely manner.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Bring a structured approach to the seasons’ sales process.
  • Drive and set up new initiatives – e.g., ‘Leinster Event Series’ and introduce sponsor networking opportunities.
  • Support successful delivery of the Annual Leinster Rugby Awards Ball to a high standard.
  • Increase new sponsorships and event activation revenues.
  • Achieve set KPI’s.
  • Develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with staff and sponsors.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities above to an effective, efficient and professional standard.
  • Portray a professional image and become a strong ambassador for Leinster Rugby
  • Acts as a role model in embodying core Leinster Rugby club values, behaviours and culture.
