There has arguably never been a better or more exciting time to be involved in helping grow and develop Women’s’ football. As one of the fastest growing sports, there are over 1.270 million female players worldwide and over 827,000 young girls playing football.
Leicester City Women Football Club is going through significant growth and investment and is looking for a Director of Women and Girls’ Football to lead all aspects of the club, solidify its position in the Women’s Super League 1 and continue its progression towards major trophies. The Club underlined its commitment to growing the women’s game with the professionalisation of LCFC Women in 2020. They were promoted to the Women’s Super League for the first time as Championship winners and are now a fully professional women’s team with exclusive use of an elite training facility at Belvoir Drive, one of the best in the WSL, along with games at The King Power Stadium.
It is an extremely exciting time with to join LCWFC, with a real opportunity to establish the culture, ethos and performance of the whole Club. Backed by King Power, this role offers the successful applicant a game-changing opportunity for Women’s football in Leicester.
Responsibilities
- The ambition is to maintain the progression within the WSL and build a world-class team and operation both on and off the pitch.
- Responsible and accountable for developing & delivering the strategy for LCWFC’s girls’ and women’s football (across girls’ pathways, academy and first team). Delivering sustained on-pitch performance, academy excellence, commercial growth and an environment where staff are engaged and motivated to succeed.
- Ensure LCWFC has a deep understanding of women and girl’s talent across football and develops effective recruitment and retention strategies to ensure LCWFC is a competitive and attractive prospect in the marketplace
- Provide leadership and be the central point of accountability for girls’ and women’s football across LCFC and all relevant partners.
Required skills and experience:
- Exceptional and proven leader with demonstrable capability in communicating to all levels, providing clarity and direction, vision, and governance to their department.
- Knowledge and experience of the women’s and girls’ game in the UK.
- Proven track record in sports administration and commercial and performance.
