Job Overview

Due to major investment in the Club, over the next 12 months we will be implementing new processes and systems across the club and during these exciting times ahead, you will be heavily involved in the new projects that will support the transition.

As the Clubs Financial Controller, you will be managing the core Finance team and will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day finance and accounting, ensuring the company meets all reporting obligations and supports the information needs of all key stakeholders.

Based on site at Portman Road, you will be part of a supportive team that is aspiring to be a beacon of excellence, with the long-term aim of working with cutting edge technology and solutions to make a greater positive impact.

With all the various commercial activities we have, no one day will be the same for you...Reporting into the CFO, as well as providing high-quality information and support to the business leaders, your focus will include:

  • Delivery of the complete P&L, BS and Cashflow and completing comparisons to budgets
  • To complete VAT returns for VAT registered entities
  • Support in the delivery of financial business strategies
  • Maintain the books and ledgers of the clubs and its associated companies

What we ask of you-

Skills and Requirements:

With an Industry background, you will be a fully Qualified Accountant who has an understanding of how finance can support teams outside of the finance function. With all of our various commercial activities, the role would suit someone who is organised, proactive, focused and has great attention to detail.

Essential for the role:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a similar role such as Financial Controller, Chief Accountant or Head of Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience completing all aspects of company accounts for SMEs, including ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Experience in preparing and completing VAT returns
  • Managed a Finance Team
  • Experience in rolling out new systems or processes within an organisation

Salary: £55k-65k

Benefit includes: 2 season tickets or option of equivalent in match tickets across the season, Staff discount at the Portman Road Shop, free parking, 20 days holiday, pension, 8 bank holidays

Working pattern: Full Time 37.5 hours, 5 days a week, flexible start/ finish time.

Location: Portman Road, Ipswich, 5 days a week
