The Training and Development Manager is an exciting and critical position within the Tennis department.

Based on the needs of the department the role will be an 90% WFH 10% on the road work split. The T&D manager will work closely with pillar heads, T&D leads and team managers to ensure that the training and development of the whole tennis team is satisfied and continually improving.

The key priorities and targets for the T&D manager are:

  • Implement new training systems/processes to effectively upskill our teams, paying particular attention to skills-gaps for specific positions.
  • Standardise the progression process in Tennis through gaining feedback, proactive engagement with line managers and evaluating the effectiveness of training delivery.
  • Strategising, scheduling, organising and overseeing the delivery of the most effective training plans to serve our team as a whole.
  • Manage our WFH projects throughout the calendar year and actively coordinate the appropriate parties to delegate work which advances the progression of our team members.
  • Coordinate the leads to deliver onsite/offsite training and induction plans to develop and set the expectations of our teams.

  • Schedule a calendar of annual training sessions (quarterly/bi annually) based on department needs and feedback.
  • Engage with and introduce cross Departmental/industry standard training methods and learnings.
  • Deliver induction training and team manager inductions.
  • Research into mentorship and stretch opportunities for our teams outside of the HEI day to day practices.
  • Feedback loop with Tennis Management Team to identify where we need additional support and/or resources to improve the training experience of our teams.
  • Deliver pre-season/April training week (When other members of the T&D team are not available to deliver the sessions).
  • Managing the department feedback loops to remove silos and important information being lost between pillars/teams.
  • Training Portals & Skills log sheet
    • Leverage Docebo/Udemy as the go-to training portals for SP & ELC and upskill our teams.
    • Up to speed knowledge of industry standards for training and larger events (i.e. Grand Slam requirements, Forklift, MEWP training needs and quotas to train teams for larger events) as well as more experienced positions. E.g. to PM Wimbledon need to have completed X course.
    • Awareness and oversight of key areas for development and action plans created to fill the gaps of the team especially around operational pinch points.
    • Management of the skills sheet ‘matrix’ to understand how the progression of the team is trending (with the support of the onboarding manager and T&D leads/ team managers).
