🌟What The Job Is All About

As a Football Systems Operator, you will be working on-site at football stadiums, playing a key part in the delivery of our services. As you gain experience in the role, you may be expected to be involved in more tournaments throughout Europe and further afield; such as UEFA or FIFA events.

The role will encompass the installation and operation of our technology at matches where you will be responsible for our systems. You will need to be prepared to work hours and days associated with events and potentially fixtures at weekends; as we work whenever Football happens.

Whilst we provide a number of services in top-flight football, you will initially focus on our Technical Guarantee and/or Tracking Technology service. You will gain exposure to various other services as you grow in the role and become a more experienced member of the team.

We will equip you with the technical training, support, and full exposure to our systems to perform your day-to-day tasks but also encourage development and progression to help make an impact on what we do.

💼Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-match planning and organisation of logistics with the team (possibly including the driving of Operational Vehicles)
  • Installing Hawk-Eye technology (Video Assistant Referee (VAR), Goal Line Technology (GLT), and Electronic Performance and Tracking System (EPTS)) in the stadium (this can involve work that is physically demanding and at height)
  • Conducting pre-match set up, checks and calibration of the systems in accordance with standard procedures
  • Liaising with stadium staff, match officials, and host broadcasters on-site
  • Monitoring the systems during the match
  • Monitoring hardware and software performances, being able to troubleshoot and report encountered issues
  • Taking full ownership of our system on-site and being an ambassador for Hawk-Eye
  • Building and maintaining our hardware and equipment
  • Assisting with the installation and testing of new products and services

🛠Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A broadcast background or a technical grounding; with a desire to work with and learn new technologies
  • Bright and enterprising with excellent problem-solving skills coupled with an inquisitive mindset
  • Proactive attitude and time management skills with the ability to work on your own initiative
  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to liaise with clients and customers in a professional and approachable manner
  • Willingness to travel domestically and to work overseas
  • Flexible and adaptable to a schedule that is dedicated by the fixture list and can change at short notice
  • Acceptance that the nature of our business means that work will be carried out over weekends/bank holidays
  • A full valid driving licence is required and willingness to drive our vans

Nice to have:

  • A bachelor's degree in a science, technology, mathematics or engineering course or relevant equivalent experience
  • Ideally, experience working with video technology/replay technology is desirable, or live event/technical production

At Hawk-Eye Innovations, we appreciate and value the importance of potential and growth. If you do not meet all of the criteria above but believe that there are certain areas you excel in and that you possess the passion and desire to develop the other attributes, then we encourage you to apply.
