Job details:

The Grounds Management Association (GMA) is seeking to recruit a part time (2 days per week) Regional Pitch Advisor, covering cricket within Wales on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2024.

This role is funded by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in partnership with the GMA and has been developed to support grounds management within the recreational game across cricket in Wales. The Regional Pitch Advisor will develop the regional infrastructure and manage effective relationships with the volunteer cricket network and key partners. They will also promote and deliver the GMA and ECB Strategies/programmes and be involved in the development of volunteer networks and the delivery of training and standards and other support services.

The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills. They should also be well organised and able to demonstrate clear knowledge and understanding of turf care management with a proven background in turf/grounds management, preferably sports turf. Knowledge of current NGB facilities strategy and the structures of sport, especially the sports of cricket would be considered an advantage as will knowledge and understanding of local authorities and community sport structures.

Reporting directly to the Key Account Manager for cricket, the role is home based with requirements to provide regional cover and travel to the GMA head office in Milton Keynes and other sites for meetings or visits, as necessary. The successful candidate is expected to reside in or near to the boundary of their region.

  • Delivery of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Grass Pitch Improvement Strategy.
  • Enhance knowledge and understanding of principles of sports turf management.
  • Develop opportunities to inccrease take up of GMA services.
  • Relationship Management.
