Job purpose

The Assistant Coach will provide technical and tactical coaching support to the GB Head Coach at camps and competitions in both the UK and oversees. They will assist the Head Coach in the development, implementation and review of a high-quality periodised training and competition programme alongside the Head of Performance Support and Science (HPSS).

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Support Elite players individual technical and tactical development plans, ensuring athletes remain on track against their agreed goals and targets
  • Support the Head Coach to coordinate, schedule and record individual 1-1 meetings with athletes both at camp and in home training environments
  • Attend international tournaments both in the UK and oversees and work in collaboration with the Head Coach to achieve agreed outcomes and targets.
  • To work with the Head Coach in an interdisciplinary way with the HPSS & GBWR Sport Science & Sports Medicine team to utilise the latest sports science techniques and methods to ensure athlete individual performance plans maximize the resources available and athletes remain on track against their agreed goals and targets.
  • Through personal example, set high performance standards and support athlete’s adherence to GBWR culture and values.
  • To assist in the development of fair, transparent and effective communication to players on GBWR selection policies and appeals procedures.
  • To report regularly to the GB Head Coach and to assist in the preparation and submission of reports and plans as required throughout each year. Actively participate in post tournament reviews, annual reviews and end of cycle reviews.
