Overall Purpose
The purpose of the role is to provide world class programme management support to specific disciplines, supporting the development of a World Class environment and culture to maximise Olympic and World Championship medal winning opportunities, whilst adhering to the values, standards and behaviours set by GB Snowsport.
Hours / location
This is a 35 hour per week role based at home at present, with opportunity to work flexibly in the London office with other GBS HQ members. Travel to London offices minimum two days a month may be required. Some out of hours work may be required to deliver the best programmes possible for GBS athletes.
Programme management (Moguls, Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross and Halfpipe)
- To embrace GB Snowsport values and actively engage in working collaboratively with the whole staff team in achieving organisational objectives
- Work with the relevant discipline head coaches and performance staff across the relevant GBS disciplines to ensure the delivery of World Class training and competition programmes with a “performance first” approach, ensuring Individual Athlete Plans are being implemented
- Coordinate and confirm logistics for both UK and international training camps for the relevant programmes, not limited to accommodation, travel, equipment, facilities, whilst considering athlete welfare at all times. This will involve making bookings and following GBS process to account for programme spend
- Working with coaches to set annual budgets, work with GBS Finance team to ensure spend is
monitored and budgets met, including the tracking of athlete subsidies - Work with FIS and events organiser to ensure competition entry and accommodation deadlines for World Cups and other relevant competitions are met
- Working with SSSM Team to ensure Programme Athletes have world class Sports Science & Medicine support e.g. work with S&C Coach to ensure regular check ins are arranged
- Support Freestyle and Snowboard Olympic Team Manager with coordination of Selection meetings, coordinating team selection letters, Squad Agreements, and Programme Agreements
Athlete/Coach Communication
- Develop strong relationships of trust and openness with coaches and athletes to grow sustainable, successful performance programmes
- Answer general athlete and parent queries regarding the programmes
Finance/Business Operations
- Work within GBS accounting system Xero, processing programme related invoices, logging “bills”, and invoicing athletes for relevant costs and fees covered by GBS
- Work with the GBS Finance Manager, Senior Performance Staff and Head Coaches to ensure the programme is being delivered to budget, this will include monthly budget updates with the relevant coaching staff
- Assisting with GBS events running, i.e. British Alpine Championships
- Work with Marketing and Communications Team to maximise the profile of the GBS athletes, programmes and competition results
- Assist with sponsorship, establishing needs and assisting in delivering against any contractual requirements
- Assist GBS Lead Welfare Officer with ensuring safeguarding procedures and paperwork are in place on all camps where necessary
Knowledge
- Knowledge of GB Snowsport discipline(s)
- Knowledge of principles of programme management and best practice
- Knowledge of athlete safeguarding and welfare principles and best practice (desirable)
Experience
- Experience of managing multiple programmes/ work streams to support athletes, ideally in a high- performance team
- Experience of setting up and managing camps, competitions or related events, ideally internationally
- Experience of working with coaches and support staff eg physios, osteos, wax techs etc, maximising and improving communications
- Experience of preparing project plans, managing budgets and of writing monitoring reports
- Experience of using a range of systems and processes eg Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, CRM, Finance, HR etc
