Fleet & Ewshot Hockey Club are looking for a Director of Coaching to provide coaching support and strategic direction.
FEHC is a friendly club with 4 mens' and 4 womens' teams, and junior teams represented at every age. M1 and L1 both play in South East Oaks Division 1.
Responsibilities:
Coaching Support
- Ensure high quality coaching throughout the club
- Provide consistency across the club whilst accommodating different coaching styles, and team and individual needs
- Provide feedback to coaches offering development opportunities
- Provide matchday support and feedback on team performance / areas for improvement
- Stand in for coaches when unavailable
- Deliver occasional masterclasses
- Host monthly coaching forums (online or in person) to discuss coaching strategies, concerns and player progression
Selection Support
- Develop knowledge of player groups across the club to support and coordinate captains' and coaches' selection process
- Ensure selection principles are followed
Player Development
- Identify individual potential amongst players
- Offer limited bespoke 1:2:1 advice to players
- Oversee junior to senior pathway for young players entering adult hockey
Communication
- Engage regularly with players, parents and supporters
- Encourage all to demonstrate club ethos and values
- Engage with local / affiliated clubs and EH to identify development opportunities
Revenue Generation
- Organise festivals, camps and courses (adult and / or junior) to support year-round hockey opportunities
- Fundraising target of £3,000.
Typical Commitment
26 - 28hrs per month
- 2 Tuesdays per month (2-3hrs)
- 2 Thursday per month (2-3hrs)
- 1 Wednesday per month (2hrs)
- Saturday adult home matches (3-4hrs)
- Selected Sunday home junior matches (1-2hr)
Skills, Experience and Qualities:
- A talented, committed, and passionate hockey coach with experience working with adult teams and children of all ages
- Evidence of recent professional development, and engagement with England Hockey
- Experience working with other coaches, and as a coach developer
- Appropriate coaching qualifications (eg Level 2 or Sessional)
- Safeguarding trained and DBS certificate
Remuneration:
We have a budget of around £5,000 for this position, linked to revenue generation.
