The EIS and British Shooting are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced practitioner to develop and deliver Performance Lifestyle support that enables athletes to develop as people through personal and professional development, the promotion of positive mental health and well-being, and the continual development of our performance culture on the world class programme.


Athlete Well-Being & Positive Mental Health

  • Work with the Performance Support Team (PST) to deliver a well-being strategy that underpins performance at World Class Programme (WCP) and National Academy levels.
  • Support delivery of experiential projects for identified WCP athletes that supports their holistic development.
  • Work with the PST to support the transition of athletes on to, through and upon leaving the WCP and National Academy levels.
  • Lead in the education for athletes and the sport in how Performance Lifestyle support can be impactful for both the person and performance
  • Work with British Shooting Psychologists to develop an aligned approach to the psycho-social support and development of WCP and National Academy athletes
  • Support the development and implementation of British Shooting’s mental health strategy and education programme, including being a key
  • Work with British Shooting’s Head of Performance Support, Programme Managers and PST to design, develop and deliver an induction process for athletes and staff
  • Work with WCP leadership to design, develop and deliver a WCP recognition policy and process which rewards/celebrates the valued contribution of athletes and staff as they move on to, through and beyond the WCP

Performance Lifestyle Responsibilities

  • Support athletes through living the values of British Shooting and the EIS Performance Lifestyle team and by coaching and mentoring.
  • Work with PL Tech Leads and other relevant members of staff in the delivery, review and development of the Performance Lifestyle strategy and practice within the sport
  • Work with the Head of Performance Support and our Paralympic Performance Lifestyle practitioner to align and establish a joined up Olympic & Paralympic Performance Lifestyle strategy member of British Shooting’s Mental Health working group.

Performance Culture

  • Assist and co-ordinate Athlete Representatives and their regular meetings in order to promote effective two-way communication between the athletes and the WCP
  • Create and promote opportunities for athletes and staff to continue to feed into the cultural development of the WCP.
  • With the PL Technical Lead and British Shooting Head of Performance Support – set clear and measurable performance and development objectives (aligned to PL sport strategy) that are regularly reviewed
