The EIS and British Swimming are looking for a Performance Lifestyle practitioner/coach to help develop and support athletes towards Paris 2024 and beyond…

We have an exciting opportunity to work as part of British Swimming’s cross aquatics Performance Lifestyle Team, delivering to athletes on the Olympic Swimming world class programme. This role will provide support across the whole Performance Lifestyle delivery framework and will work in collaboration with the wider Olympic Swimming Performance Support Team.

We have an opportunity for either a full time role, based in either Loughborough or Bath (ability to travel and have presence in both centres is essential), or x2 part time roles would be considered, based at each centre.

ROLE SUMMARY

The PL practitioner/coach will provide the delivery and development of Performance Lifestyle support to world class programme athletes within British Swimming’s Olympic world class programme. This support will compliment and contribute to the strategical objectives of the sport and the practitioner/coach will work as part of an integrated and collaborative sports science and sports medicine team.
In this role, the PL practitioner/coach will also form part of the wider PL community within the EIS – here they will contribute to knowledge development and best practice sharing across the organisation to support the ongoing evolution of world class Performance Lifestyle support and practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To develop and deliver a Performance Lifestyle strategy that is bespoke to sport/athlete need and consistent with the Performance Lifestyle Delivery Framework and Principles (see attached e-brochure)
  • To work closely and in collaboration with the cross Aquatics PL practitioners, PL Technical Leads and other relevant members of staff in the development of the Performance Lifestyle strategy and ongoing delivery within the sport
  • As part of a cross Aquatics PL group, as appropriate support/lead specific PL project work to meet emerging challenges and areas of priority, for example: athlete transition strategy (on to, through and beyond), PL screening dissemination and analysis
  • Lead the programme wide education strand of British Swimming’s mental health steering group strategy
  • Support the co-ordination of an annual world class programme induction event, leading from PL perspective
  • As appropriate, liaise and communicate with parents, coaches, schools/colleges and internal/external colleagues and stakeholders to facilitate world class holistic support and development for athletes
  • Deliver one-to-one and group-based athlete support, as appropriate, aligned to the EIS Performance Lifestyle Delivery Framework and Principles to help fully embed and develop the More2Me concept within British Swimming performance environments
  • Collaborate as part of an internal psychosocial group to facilitate mental health and well-being support to athletes, whilst also proactively accessing wider system support in this space, as appropriate
  • Fully engage with and uphold all professional standards associated with Safe2Practice i.e. note keeping, confidentiality, training etc. (see attached e-brochure)
