This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate individual to join England Netball as we embark on our mission to regain the incredible momentum enjoyed before the pandemic in the lead up to a home Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. In this Netball Development Community Coach (NDCC) role, you will be an expert coach and be able to grow participation reaching all communities, ensuring an outstanding participant experience.

Job Summary

The NDCC will be an outstanding role model and expert coach in their specialist domain, who will grow participation reaching all communities, whilst providing outstanding participant experiences. This role will predominantly contribute to the organisations game for life, thriving collective, extraordinary experience and resonant voice strategic destinations.

What you will do:

Participation and Programmes

  • Coach and deliver a weekly schedule of inclusive, welcoming sessions, camps and events.
  • Maintain expert knowledge and insight on the local area, the landscape, population, facilities, workforce, netball provision and partners.
  • Develop a deep understanding of local communities and cultures and how best to shape our programme delivery to meet the needs.
  • Utilise knowledge, insight, and mapping, (in partnership with the Netball Development Officer/s) to annually plan a menu of inclusive activity, for every community that suits the needs of the local area, aligning to our adventure strategy, purpose and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure local plans reflect ‘game for life’ ambitions and deliver the agreed domain specialty and focus age group, also ensuring emphasis of delivery is placed upon any agreed priority audiences.
  • Organise, promote, deliver, and monitor England Netball programmes ensuring a sustainable financial model and a great participant experience supporting all stages of the participant journey.
  • Proactively encourage programme participants to join England Netball as members and/or subscribers.

Partnerships & Relationships

  • Champion and continually demonstrate our purpose driven culture and embedded behaviors.
  • Establish and nurture local partnerships that align with our purpose and enable outstanding programme experiences and reach (including but not limited to the Active Partnership, Local Authorities, relevant local charities, facility providers, school networks)
  • In collaboration with the Workforce & Movement Experience Manager recruit, develop and deploy a local team of casual coaches, officials and hosts to help grow participation and sustain programme activity.
  • Guide hosts, officials and coaches through their employee journey providing an outstanding experience and supporting their growth in the specialist domain.

Communication

  • Maintain engaging, accessible local communication channels that enable local landing of our ‘resonant voice’ campaigns alongside sharing local news.
  • Be experts on how we can reach consumers new to the sport that we are not already in touch with, regularly monitor and evaluate our reach and methods.
  • Grow and ultilise a menu of communication channels and contacts (including but not limited to partner newsletters, websites and social media, wider social media connections, buy and sell pages and specific channels accessed by local communities.
  • Proactively promote and market activities to specific audiences using most appropriate platforms to impact participant numbers.

Operations & Organisation Wide Support

  • Be responsible for meeting and monitoring local Key Performance Indicators; updating trackers and systems to demonstrate progress as required.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of all technical systems to provide insight, deliver and monitor programmes and delivery.
  • Generate programme income and manage small budgets following NDO financial guides to support sustainability.
  • Access local funding support and signpost potential clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers to relevant schemes.
  • As agreed, support national and local profile raising and media opportunities.
  • Support test series and major events, offering experience day coaching or hosting assistance.

Domain specialism (Each NDCC Recruited To Specialise In Either Adult Returners or Children and Young People)

Adult Returners

  • Understand the motivations, needs and wants of adult returners aged 16 years plus and the products that can support them.
  • Deliver the range of adult returner and adult casual netball programmes as determined by local need including Back to Netball, Walking Netball, Netball Now, College Netball, Workplace Netball, I Heart Leagues and any new adult returner programmes.
  • Provide shadowing and buddying support to coaches developing their skills in the specialist domain.
  • Share best practice and support education opportunities for wider staff in the specialist area.
  • Pilot new insight-based programmes and initiatives in the specialist domain to support the movement.
  • Participate in domain related working groups.

Children and Young People

  • Understand the motivations, needs and wants of children aged 3 to 18 years old and the products that can support them.
  • Maintain knowledge of the early years framework.
  • Deliver the range of children and young people programmes including preschool activity, Bee Netball, school netball and extra-curricular programmes.
  • Working with the participation team deliver new insight-based pilot programmes and initiatives in the specialist domain to support the movement.
  • Provide shadowing and buddying support to the wider collective (staff and coaches) developing their skills in the specialist domain.
  • Share best practice and support education opportunities for wider staff in the specialist area.
  • Participate in domain related working groups.

General

  • Be an outstanding member of your regional team and the wider Development department, attending relevant internal and external meetings and collaborating with colleagues across the department and organisation, to ensure we achieve our shared purpose.
  • Be an advocate of and apply the England Netball moral compass.
  • Be a guardian of our game, ensuring it is a safe space for adults, children and young people to belong, flourish and soar.

  • Someone who has an understanding of the local communities and cultures and can use this insight to shape programme activity.
  • Someone who can deliver the range of adult returner and adult casual netball programmes as determined by local needs.
  • Someone who can support the recruitment, development and deployment of casual coaches, officials and hosts.
  • Someone who has strong communication and administration skills. This includes responsibility for meeting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators, updating trackers and systems.
  • Someone who can grow and utilise a number of communication channels including social media

Hybrid Working

Over the next 6 months we will be learning how hybrid working can bring out the best in the way we work as individuals, teams and as an organisation. Current expectations are that there will be a mix of office based and homebased working alongside any event delivery.
