Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the Head of Partnerships will lead the partnerships sales process, drive the acquisition of commercial partners and provide a significant individual contribution to the sustained commercial growth for England Netball and the Vitality Netball Superleague.

As Head of Partnerships, you will also be responsible for building and nurturing relationships at the highest level with a growing portfolio of partners, whilst leading and mentoring a small partnership management team responsible for delivering unique activation campaigns to help elevate the sport to a new place of prominence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Commercial Director to develop and drive an ambitious partnerships sales strategy maximising commercial returns for England Netball and Vitality Netball the Superleage
  • Lead the commercial growth of the Vitality Netball Superleague and support the wider professionalisation journey
  • Develop and design unique, creative, and bespoke partnership proposals liaising with the marketing and in-house design team
  • Produce market leading sales tools (tangible sales packages, emotive sales clips)
  • Strategically engage with brands who will enable us to take the sport to places we can’t reach alone
  • Present partnership opportunities to key stakeholders at the highest level
  • Successfully negotiate at the highest level and work with the legal team to support new partnership contracting process
  • Manage relationships with sales agencies and key stakeholders
  • Successfully build long term relationships with our partners to align with our exciting new strategic and financial aspirations
  • Lead and mentor a small team ensuring we deliver a world class service to partners ensuring a proactive and solution focused approach
  • Ensure our partners are always on, actively working together to produce compelling content and campaigns to help to elevate the sport and discover new audiences
  • Provide regular input on all partner activity, including partner updates and partnership sales pipeline updates
  • Monitor financial budget and reporting
  • Contribute to the overall development and delivery of the commercial strategy
  • Implement a consistent brand image across all partner marketing activity
  • Host VIP’s, partners, and potential partners at executive level at England Netball and Vitality Netball Superleague major events.

Person Specification

Skills/ Abilities/ Knowledge


  • Determination to deliver, and proven track record in, high-value and purpose-driven partnerships
  • Proven experience in building and managing a high performing team
  • Proven experience of the delivery of rights and creative campaigns
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Existing, positive relationships with industry contacts
  • Strong understanding of the commercial sports environment both now and in the future
  • Knowledge and experience of digital inventory within the sports arena
  • Pro-active approach and the ability to work independently as well as utilising and developing others


  • Passionate and knowledgeable about sports

Education/ Qualification

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Strong IT skills


Sales experience within a sponsorship environment at an elite sports club

  • Extensive experience in a client facing role
  • Experience in commercial or partnership management in sport or entertainment, at a rights holder or agency
  • Experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
