Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club is an English professional rugby union club based in West London and competes in the RFU Championship.
ABOUT US
As our women’s premiership team enters its second season we have 2 exciting positions within our performance department.
Trailfinders currently compete in the Women’s Premiership and the Club’s vision is to compete at the top end of this competition, and produce players who represent England.
A significant part of this process is to ensure all players are physically prepared for the demands of premiership and international rugby.
We are therefore looking for 2 outstanding individuals to join the program.
This is in relation to the Head of Physical Performance (HoPP) role.
THE ROLE
We are looking for someone to lead the physical performance program. This person should be a highly competent strength & conditioning coach, and also possess good leadership and managerial skills. The key aspect of this role will be to plan and deliver the program to improve all key physical qualities: strength, speed, conditioning, flexibility etc. They will also be expected to liaise closely with rugby staff in the planning of training both in the short-term and long-term.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the physical preparation of the women’s premiership team. This involves the planning and delivery of key physical qualities (strength, speed, conditioning, injury prevention etc).
• Plan and co-ordinate the weekly schedule with all key stakeholders.
• Manage the physical performance coach (Trailfinders) and physical performance coach (Brunel).
• Be proactive and manage the recruitment of interns, and provide mentorship throughout the season.
• Provide flexible session delivery to athletes in and around their commitments across the week.
• Work closely with other staff such as the Club Nutritionist and external psychology provision.
• Plan effectively with the Head Coach and assistant coaches in session planning to ensure the technical, tactical and physical aims are achieved.
• Ensure accurate reporting of GPS feedback following sessions and any other load monitoring practices.
• Work closely with the medical department to ensure a thorough specific return to play program is implemented across the week, meeting the needs of all athletes.
• Attend training at Brunel University where the women’s academy is based and provide mentorship and feedback to performance staff.
• Attend all Premiership games. Set a positive example and contribute positively to the team environment and culture.
• Be a strong consistent example of all the Club’s values, vision and success standards.
• Undertake any other reasonable request.
THE PERSON
EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Minimum of 5 years experience in full time strength & conditioning post qualifications.
• Minimum of 2 years experience leading a strength & conditioning department OR working in a senior role with line management and mentoring experience.
• Evidence of mentoring other staff and reviewing of coaching practices
• Experience of working with female athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
• MSc in strength & conditioning/sports science related subject
• BSc in strength & conditioning/sports science related subject
• UKSCA/NSCA/ASCA qualification
(one of the 3 is essential)
Desirable
• Evidence of further qualifications/study in leadership and management
• Evidence of further qualifications/study in sport psychology
