THE ROLE

Lead the provision of strength and conditioning across the whole men’s academy pathway.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and lead the delivery of the athletic development model for all male Trailfinders
Academy players based at Brunel.

• Mentor and develop the other staff within strength and conditioning pathway.
• Work closely with both medical and rugby departments to facilitate an environment where the players can realise their potential.
• Set clear roles and responsibilities for other academy strength and conditioning coaches.
• Plan and organize weekly schedule, training blocks, pre-season and off season.
• Strong understanding and practical ability to coach speed, agility, strength and size.
• Accurately testing players physical characteristics and relaying the information to other departments.
• Work closely with the Strength and Conditioning Co-ordinator to ensure the academy strength and conditioning department is performing optimally to produce professional rugby players.
• Continue to develop your skills and knowledge.
• Be a strong, consistent example of all the Club’s values and vision.
• Promote, maintain and uphold the standards within the Club.
• Any other reasonable requests

THE PERSON

EXPERIENCE

Essential

• 4 year’s experience in a S & C position within elite sport. Preferably in a team sport.
• Knowledge & understanding of rugby union.
• Evidence of having led and managed other staff.

Desirable

• Experience in elite rugby union.
• Have held a management role and possess experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• BSc in Sport Science/ Strength & Conditioning related field.

Desirable

• MSc in Sport Science/Strength & Conditioning related field.
• Accredited through USKCA, NSCA or ASCA.

SKILLSET

Essential

• Ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a demanding environment.
• Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A passion for working with youth athletes.
• Able to build relationships with both players and staff and contribute to the program in a positive and professional manner.
