Cycling Ireland is recruiting a Compliance Administrator to support the Governance Lead and Safeguarding Officer with day-to-day administration to ensure the best in class standards across the organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the promotion of governance related campaigns to all stakeholders, for example, anti-bullying, GDPR, complaints and insurance.
  • Identify compliance risks and maintain risk registers.
  • Conduct regular internal audits to assess compliance with policies.
  • Establish mechanisms for reporting violations.
  • Prepare compliance reports for relevant bodies.
  • Uphold high ethical standards throughout the organisation.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and integrity.
  • Support in the development and oversight of control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
  • Support in the revision of procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
  • Support the provinces in managing compliance issues.
  • Develop, review, and update compliance policies and procedures based on sports governance codes and legal requirements.
  • Ensure consistent implementation across the organisation.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
  • Familiarisation with vetting procedure – Garda Vetting (ROI) and Access NI (NI). Promote legislative compliance with vetting procedures and manage and co-ordinate implementation of vetting related administration at national level.
  • Assist with the promotion of awareness of Cycling Ireland’s policies and procedures on child protection and safeguarding to the Association’s members, to Children’s Officers at all levels of the Federation and liaise with relevant third-party bodies as appropriate.
  • Assist with Communication with Club Children’s Officers to ensure the distribution of relevant policies and the promotion of related education programmes, materials.
  • Support the SGO in Liaising with Provincial, Clubs to examine the rules, regulations, and structures to ensure that they are child centred.
  • Assist with Co-ordination of child safeguarding training at all levels in the Association.
  • Support with circulation of all relevant information and resource materials on governance to Provincial, Counties, Clubs of Cycling Ireland.
  • Support HR Lead with Policy and Compliance
  • Be informed of best practice and legislative compliance on child protection and safeguarding, across all jurisdictions in which Cycling Ireland operates.

Person Specification Essential Criteria

  • At least 2 years’ experience (paid or voluntary) of working in a similar role in sport, community development, youth work or other relevant area.
  • A high level of proven organisational ability and administrative and IT Skills.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills (verbal and written). Excellent English.
  • Understanding of safeguarding/child protection and compliance procedures and policies including legislative requirements as applicable on the island of Ireland
  • Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities
  • An analytical mind able to “see” the complexities of procedures and regulations.
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with a range of people.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, resourceful, work on own initiative in a flexible and co-operative manner.
  • Ability to work out of normal office hours when required.
  • The post holder will be required to have a clean full driving licence and the appointment will be subject to Garda vetting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in compliance, risk management, or sports governance.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks and sports regulations.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities

General information

The post will be based in Cycling Ireland’s Office, on the Sport Ireland Campus
The appointment will be a permanent position with a 6-month probation period.
From time-to-time travel will also be required.
The successful applicant must have a clean driving licence; her/his own transport and will be required to comply with Garda vetting clearance in advance of taking up the position.
