Cricket Ireland is the governing body for the game at both performance and participation levels throughout the island of Ireland, representing the interests of both the men’s and women’s game. The future of Irish cricket is incredibly bright given the growth of the sport driven by significant success on the international stage in the last decade leading to unprecedented visibility for Irish cricket at home and abroad.
THE POSITION
We are seeking an experienced Match Officials Manager that will play a role in the administration of match referees, umpires and scorers across the island of Ireland. The role is full-time, permanent role with Cricket Ireland. The position undertakes important functions such as round by round appointment of match officials for all matches played under the auspices of Cricket Ireland including regular review of feedback via the relevant reporting systems.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
General Administration
- Prepare and manage relevant budgets.
- Complete the administration of payments and expenses for all match officials and match official related activities.
Match Official Administration
- Develop the pathway for both male and female umpires, match referees and scorers with a key focus on the development of female umpires and match referees as per the International Cricket Council strategic plan.
- Review annually and update the Cricket Ireland Match Officials appointments policy.
- Lead umpire, match referee and scorer panel discussions and selections following the Cricket Ireland Match Officials appointments policy.
- Lead the appointment of Cricket Ireland panels for umpires, match referees and scorers while following the Cricket Ireland Match Officials appointments policy.
- Submit relevant documents to the ICC for any applications of individuals to the International
Umpire or Match Referee panels.
- Manage contracts of all Cricket Ireland umpires, scorers and match official officers.
- Monitor the workload of contracted match officials to ensure they are used to the optimum capacity.
- Oversee and organise CI and ICC clothing orders and distribute for all members of the representative panels of match officials and officers.
- Gather availability of umpires, match referees and scorers for Cricket Ireland fixtures.
- Communicate international umpire and match referee appointments to the International Cricket Council.
- Identify accommodation and transport needs of umpires, match referees and scorers for all Inter-Provincial, Super Series and Futures Series matches, and communicate to the Provincial Union Cricket Operations Managers.
- Manage the “Who’s the Umpire” administration system for appointments and payments.
- Manage the “NV Play” administration system as required.
- Maintain and monitor the International Cricket Council “Match Information Database System” for setting up profiles and reviewing umpire performance.
- Monitor and evaluate umpire performances through reporting processes, working closely with the MO Observations Officer.
- Organise all aspects of the Cricket Ireland Umpire Exchange Programme in cooperation with the ICC.
- Attend all International Cricket Council Match Officials Meetings as the Cricket Ireland representative.
- Organising bookings of rooms and catering for relevant match official workshops and meetings
- Complete an end of season review with all International and First Class panel umpires and match referees.
International Hosting
- Work with International Cricket Council appointed Match Officials for relevant fixtures where appointed.
- Identify accommodation and transport needs of umpires, match referees and scorers for all International matches, and booked as required.
- Organise International Match Official logistics and create a tour itinerary for each Home based series.
- Act as Match Officials Liaison Officer during each home-based series.
- Organise International Cricket Council recharges for any relevant expenses.
Other
- Assist the Cricket Operations Manager on developing and maintaining competition playing conditions for Cricket Ireland competitions.
- Support the Cricket Operations Manager in player eligibility issues and management
- Attend Cricket Department and Cricket Operations Meetings when required.
- The successful candidate should have the following skills, education, and experience.
Skills and Competencies:
- Sound administration experience, including report preparation, record keeping and use of IT applications
- Ability to successfully work as part of a team and individually
- Success in developing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders
- High level of ambition, drive, attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Play a part to contribute to the ongoing evolution of Cricket Ireland’s strategic plan
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in sport (cricket preferred) at a local, provincial, national and/or international level
- A current, clean driver’s license, with eligibility to drive a van (over 25 years old, in accordance with insurance policy).
- Garda Vetting Clearance or Safeguarding certification.
Remuneration:
Competitive, dependent on experience.
