  • Assist the Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine in developing and leading the physiotherapy services to the Academy
  • Work with the Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine to oversee the sport science and medicine provision to the U23s
  • Contribute to the department performance plan
  • Oversee the content and application of the Medical and Physiotherapy sections of the SS&M Operations Manual ·
  • Develop and implement appropriate educational strategies for all Academy age-groups including infographic material, small group discussions and presentations to both players and parents
  • Attend all Professional Development Phase (PDP) matches, including provision of pitch-side cover and day to day management of the PDP, as directed by the Head of Sport Science and Medicine
  • Maintain up to date records of player availability
  • Co-ordinate part-time physiotherapy cover for youth tournaments, friendlies and weekend matches
  • Perform musculo-skeletal assessments of Academy team players
  • Diagnose and treat all injuries sustained by Academy players
  • Attend specialist appointments/radiology exams with PDP players
  • Keep the Head of Sport Science and Medicine informed of all medical/injury concerns regarding Academy players
  • Collaborate with the Sport Science department for physical performance testing
  • Provide weekly written injury progress reports for the Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine and coaching staff
  • Keep daily records of treatments and record injuries on the PMA system along with detailed rehabilitation programmes for injured players
  • Ensure there is a comprehensive screening process is in place across the Academy
  • Assist with the delivery of prehabilitation strategies to all Academy players with key focus on the PDP
  • Liaise with the Sport Science department to collect and monitor growth and maturation data for all Academy players
  • Ensure all academy players’ medical files are up to date and stored securely
  • Ensure all protocols and EAP’s are followed according to Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine
  • Work in conjunction with the Head of Academy Sport Science & Medicine, to ensure that the department is operating at a level required for the club to achieve and maintain EPPP Category One status
  • Liaise regularly with the First Team Sport Science and Medicine department to ensure continuity in approach towards the physical preparation of Academy players for First Team football
  • Utilise the department IDP Flow to individualise the delivery of our physiotherapy programme and take a player centered approach which includes input from the player and the coach
  • Where appropriate, ensure own continuous education and personal development
  • To undertake CPD organised by the Club
  • Any other duties appropriate to the skills and experience of the position holder



  • BSc degree in Physiotherapy (E)
  • Registration with appropriate governing body (HCPC/CSP) (E)
  • FA Level 5 First Aid or equivalent (ATMMiF) (E)
  • MSc degree in Physiotherapy or related field (D)
  • Experience working in elite sport (E)

  • Experience of working within elite sport (E)
  • Experience of working with adolescent athletes (E)
  • Experience of working within professional football (D)

  • This a full-time role that include work on weekends and evenings
