Role Description:
The purpose of this role is to effectively manage the education for both the YDP and FDP phases to ensure that a balanced programme is achieved. This will include the establishment and ongoing liaison / monitoring of all young players within their respective schools by gathering every young players’ school reports 3 times per year where possible. This will be achieved by either face to face or email liaison with the relevant teachers through a contact strategy devised on a traffic light system. Co-ordinate and oversee the Hybrid Training model including; induction, course / level suitability, and day to day management of the programme. Establish and maintain strong links with any player’s school, feeding back progress whilst receiving compensatory Education at the Academy. Assist with the delivery of the Champions Lifeskill programme and liaise with other multi-disciplinary staff. Liaise closely with the Academy SSG and where necessary make home / school visits jointly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a record of every young players’ education progress and attainment through the gathering of school reports (3 x per year where possible)
- Establish the specific links at school with the relevant staff for every young player
- Provide feedback to the school of the progress of the young player through the use of the PMA on a 6/12 week basis
- Devise a contact strategy to ensure that each player’s school receives email correspondence or a face to face visit
- Co-ordinate and manage the Hybrid Training model (U15/16) including initial induction and school, parent agreements and ongoing tracking of player’s progress and attainment
- Feedback to Hybrid player’s school half termly and consider appropriateness of player to continue based on this progress and attainment
- Adapt the programme according to player development / academic attainment needs
- Liaise closely with lead phase coaches and U16 coach day to day and maintain up to date registers of attendance and training
- Assist with the Champions Lifeskills education programme with other HoDs for all players that covers social media, rest, recovery, nutrition, mental skills etc
Additional welfare responsibilities
- Support the Academy SSG in the creation of the ‘safeguarding in action’ culture
- Support the SSG with any Welfare Issues and conduct school visits where necessary
Education/Qualifications/Training:
- Educated to degree level (essential)
- QTS (essential)
- Up to date knowledge of Safeguarding policies and practice (essential)
Specific Experience:
- Teaching at secondary level education
- An understanding of the ‘elite’ environment
- Knowledge / experience of dealing with external agencies with regard to the Welfare of Young People with support from the SSG
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
- An excellent communicator with both young children and other professionals
- Organisational skills
- A healthy interest in sport / football
- Work well as part of a team
