The business

Brothers Rugby Club established in 1905 has approximately 2,500 playing members across Seniors, Women’s, Juniors, Sevens, Touch and Modified Rugby programs (40 per cent of which are female) and proudly embraces the club values. Brothers has won an incredible 174 premierships across all senior grades including 28 First Grade premierships and the club is a renowned community club in Australia; drawing players, supporters and volunteers from all corners of the country and indeed the world. The Club vision is to be the #1 Australian community rugby club.

The club seeks a Head of Rugby Operations to join their Senior Management team who is integral both to delivering on-field success for the club and ensuring that our valued members are provided for, whatever their Rugby journey.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Board, the Head of Rugby Operations will be responsible for;

  • Developing and implementing performance strategies which see the effective and efficient delivery of on-field activities, and incorporating a player and coaches development plan.
  • Driving continuous improvement through all Brothers teams to ensure that they are competing to the highest possible standard.
  • Recruitment and retention of high-value playing and coaching talent, and for increasing membership across all tiers of competition in which the Club participates.
  • Planning and directing match-day operations, including run-sheets, accreditations, match resourcing, hospitality, broadcast, and asset plans.
  • Establishing strong relationships and liaising with key rugby stakeholders and high-value feeder organisations, including schools and regional clubs (including the QRU, BJRU and RA).
  • Managing the Rugby Competitions Co-ordinator and Rugby Administrators in the delivery of their duties.
  • Maintaining existing Touch Rugby and Junior participation programs to a high standard.

The Individual

The ideal individual for this highly diverse and operational position will exhibit the clubs values: respect, integrity, humility, trust and legacy. They are also seeking someone who is;

  • High energy and ambitious with a drive for club’s success.
  • Has demonstrated experience within Head of Rugby Operations and related tasks including delivery of on-field operations, team performance and membership participation.
  • Adheres to Brothers’ club rules and cultural values on behalf of the Club.
  • Ability to utilise links with foreign Rugby markets to better aid recruitment of players will be highly regarded.
  • A detailed, strategic and technical knowledge of the game and a passion/commitment to it including a detailed knowledge of the Queensland, Australian and Global rugby environments.
  • Refined relationship skills and ability to build rapport with players, staff, club members and the wider community.
