Brasenose College Boat Club (Oxford) seeks a rowing coach to lead their Senior Women’s Squad.

Brasenose College Boat Club (BNCBC) stands as the oldest rowing club in the world, dating back to 1815 when we won the first modern rowing event against Jesus College Boat Club. Over the past two years we’ve made significant steps towards returning the club to its rightful place at the top of college rowing, and we are committed to continuing that trend.

We are hiring for the position of Lead Women’s Coach, set to commence from April 2024. We are seeking an individual with a proven coaching ability to lead our ambitious women’s side. The Lead Women’s Coach will work closely with our captains and our experienced Head Coach in designing comprehensive training plans and overseeing water training sessions.

We intend to invest in a coach for the longer term, which will extend to funding a Level 2 Coaching Course and Powerboat Licence after your first year with the club and a £2.50/hour pay rise from a starting rate of £17.50/hour up to £20/hour.

  • Lead the coaching for the 1st and 2nd women’s boats and coordinate their training alongside the Captains and Head Coach
  • Liaise with Head Coach to create and implement effective training plans
  • Collaborate with Head Coach and Captains to set crews for Torpids and Summer Eights races
  • Take part in training camps at the start of Michaelmas and Trinity terms.

  • Proven coaching experience
  • Availability to coach 4-5 1.5 hour sessions a week throughout Oxford term time

Availability to start from the beginning of Trinity 2024

  • Familiar with Oxford College Rowing, particularly rowing on the isis and Bumps racing
  • Willingness to commit to a long term project
  • Available for Pre-term camps
  • Ability to drive a launch
  • Ability and willingness to coach-cox when needed.
