he announcement of the inclusion of the Beach Sprint format in the LA2028 Olympic Games has provided an exciting opportunity to develop a new talent pathway, which unlocks opportunities for athletes with the potential to develop into a new generation of Olympic rower.

The British Rowing Pathway programmes seek to prepare athletes for all Olympic formats; Sculling, Sweep and Beach Sprints. This post is positioned to support the region identify and develop athletes with potential across each of the Olympic disciplines, with a particular emphasis on preparing athletes with the skills to succeed in the Beach Sprints.

The post-holder will play a key role in developing a Pathway for rowers from the North East with future potential to excel in the Beach Sprint format. The programme will involve creating a network of clubs within the region (both coastal and inland based), where rowers from all backgrounds, with potential for the Beach Sprint format, can be identified and provided with opportunities to supplement their existing club training with Beach Sprint specific sessions, with the goal of developing to international standard over an appropriate time period.
