What will you be doing?

As an In-House 2nd line IT Technician at British Cycling, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Head of IT Operations and liaising closely with the IT Service Desk, you'll be a cornerstone of smooth operations. Based in our Manchester office, you will be the go-to expert for troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, setting up and configuring new systems, and offering technical support to our dedicated staff. Your expertise will be crucial in managing our Microsoft-based technologies, including Azure and Office 365. Beyond the technical aspects, you will also be instrumental in training our team on new technologies and ensuring our systems are secure, updated, and running efficiently. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency of our operations and the success of our transformation journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure software and hardware, focusing on Microsoft products, including Azure and Office 365.
  • Manage network servers and technology tools.
  • Set up and manage accounts and workstations.
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages.
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies, particularly Microsoft products.
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation and manuals.

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an IT Technician or relevant position.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication ability.
  • Outstanding organisational and time-management skills.
  • In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant industry experience
  • GCSE Maths & English level 2 or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Certification as an IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft technologies, including Azure and Office 365.

Work Schedule:

This position is office-based; Part-time and flexible working opportunities will be considered.
