The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Content Planning Manager to join our dynamic team.

As the Content Planning Manager, you'll be responsible for managing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the club's overall marketing and communication goals. You'll work closely with our Marketing Services department, Production Editorial, Insight and Social Media teams to co-ordinate and distribute engaging content across various channels, like our website, app, social media, and printed publications.

In addition to developing content for the club's own channels, you'll also be responsible for creating content for our sponsors and partners. You'll work closely with our Partnerships team to develop content that aligns with our partners' aims while ensuring that it reflects the values and identity of the club.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be able to align our content plans with our objectives of growing the fanbase and driving more commercial value from our channels. You'll be focused on identifying opportunities for growth and developing strategies for engaging new and existing fans.

Main Accountabilities

  • Manage and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the club's overall marketing and communication goals, ensuring that all content is well-planned, engaging, relevant, and on-brand.
  • Coordinate the creation of content across various channels, ensuring that all content is delivered on time and meets the club's quality standards.
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of content campaigns, making data-driven decisions to optimise and improve results.
  • Work closely with the Partnerships team to develop content in line with their contractual rights and sponsorship aims.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, social media platforms, and digital marketing best practices to inform content strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and Club staff to create compelling and authentic content.
  • Work closely with the Social Media team to ensure that all content is optimised for each platform and to develop strategies for increasing engagement and followers.
  • Manage a content calendar and ensure that all content is delivered on time and meets the club's quality standards.
  • Create and manage budgets for content production and distribution, working closely with the marketing team to ensure that budgets are used effectively.
  • Ensure that all content is compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, including data privacy laws and advertising regulations.

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

  • 5+ years of experience in content planning, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, SEO, and digital marketing best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content that resonates with audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with project management tools.
  • A passion for football and an understanding of the sport's culture and community.
  • Be a team player – this is critical for us. The Club comes first, and you will be prepared to work hard, with enthusiasm, alongside your colleagues.
  • Be personable, adaptable and a persuasive communicator.
