This role is responsible for promoting the rights of members and staff to engage in Basketball in a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment.
Key Accountabilities include;
- To act as a committee member for Safeguarding Sub Committee of the Board
- To work with the sub-committee to hold the Executive Management Team to account for strategic decisions and operational management of all activity relating to Safeguarding
- To assist the organisation in fulfilling it’s responsibilities to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk
- To work with the committee to provide the Board with insight into service delivery, risks and requirements around resourcing
- To lead on periodic detailed review of cases to ensure Basketball England are acting appropriately and complying with legal and moral duties
- To keep abreast of any legislative or regulatory changes which will impact Basketball England and our members, in relation to Safeguarding
- To advocate for the welfare of athletes, volunteers and staff and ensure this is paramount to the winning of medals
- To promote the importance of the ‘Child’s Voice’ at all levels of decision making
- To maintain a good understanding of operational plans and specific objectives set for the teams
- To actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all work areas
