Badminton England is the National Governing Body for badminton in England. We are dedicated to promoting the sport of badminton by enabling more people to play badminton and giving those with talent the opportunity to fulfil their potential. We're currently looking for an Event Operations Manager to join our team on a full time basis (35.58 hours per week).

This newly created role will support the Head of Major Events in delivering an annual portfolio of events including our flagship event, the Yonex All England.

About you...

  • You have solid and proven experience in staging major events, ideally within Sports or similar and will be able to talk confidently about how you've had positive impacts
  • Ideally, you'll have knowledge of badminton (although this is not essential)
  • You've got a natural flair with people, and able to build long lasting working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You're able to self-direct and motivate and work with minimal supervision
  • You're a strong team player that is flexible and adaptable dependent on the needs of the team
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • You have excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities
  • You can demonstrate initiative with a solutions focussed mind and produce creative proposals to problems
  • You are able to communicate, present and influence with credibility at all levels
  • You can work remotely whilst also contributing to cross collaboration working
  • You have a commitment to sports equality and an ability to gain buy in to equality objectives

Role Summary...

No two days are the same at Badminton England so you can expect lots of variety and challenges that will help you develop the role and yourself. Badminton will be central to everything that you do and in putting our people first, you will be improving experiences for our fans, players and officials.

You will:

  • Coordinate a range of operational planning documentations and tasks which align to business objectives and contractual obligations
  • Manage venue overlay planning
  • Be involved in the procurement of goods and services
  • Manage multiple projects and budgets
  • Coordinate and deliver functional areas
  • Deliver great event experiences

Key Information

Due to the nature of the role, weekend work may be required, along with early starts and occasional evenings. In quieter / non-event periods a normal 5 day pattern would resume.

Travel will be required so a valid driving licence is essential

This role requires some manual handling due to transporting event equipment, event set-up and de-rig, and general event store maintenance.
