About the role

The Senior Finance Business Partner - Game Development is responsible for advising and assisting the Game Development department on both financial and management accounting measures to ensure decisions can be made to achieve the best possible outcome for the business.

The role is required to maintain and execute the AFL’s management accounting activities as well as providing financial leadership and expertise to the organisation.

A day in the life of

Key Accountabilities:

  • Produce monthly management reporting and annual budgets and forecasts
  • Report monthly financial results to Head of AFL Northern Territory, Head of AFL Tasmania and Head of AFL Queensland
  • Build strong working relationships and establish trust within the business
  • Support business with commercial advice in tenders, contact negotiation and execution of business opportunities
  • Advise and assist management with strategic projects to maximise AFL’s commercial returns
  • Liaise with Department Heads to ensure adequate cost control and reporting
  • Provide financial leadership and accounting support to department heads and the executive, including ad-hoc project support and creation and review of business cases
  • Build and maintain financial models
  • Providing insight around business results and investment in the game
  • Provide support to the Financial Reporting team and their processes including the annual audit process
  • Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader team

  • Tertiary level Accounting qualifications and post graduate qualifications e.g. CPA/CA
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial management role
  • An understanding of relevant accounting standards and taxation knowledge
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Broad range of technical and commercial experience with a sound knowledge in cash flow management, risk management, budgeting, controlling and reporting
  • Experience in implementation of process improvement, systems excellence
  • Experience in D365 and Workday Adaptive, desirable
  • Experience partnering with an executive team, desirable
