Alpine F1 Team, competing as BWT Alpine F1 Team, is a Formula One constructor which made its debut at the start of the 2021 Formula One World Championship.
Alpine F1 Team have an excellent opportunity within our Engineering Office for a Composite Laminate Engineer.
Composite Laminate Engineer – The Role
Working in the Composite Laminate Group, the successful candidate will undertake the laminate definition of a variety of composite components. These could either be structural (Impact Structures, Suspension, Wings, etc.) or non-structural parts (Bodywork, Floor, Ducts, etc.). Responsibilities will include defining and specifying composite laminates and the associated ply book creation, working closely with all Engineering Office Design department as well as Composite Manufacturing and Structures & Materials to fully release the laminate, specifying any associated laminate processes. When required this will extend to the associated core, inserts and wider laminate assembly specification. On large assemblies, this would involve working in a small project team, or sole responsibility for less complex laminate designs
At all times our team members are supported/coached by more experienced senior designers to enhance career development. Appropriate training will be given by outside consultants whilst on-going CATIA skills enhancement is provided by our on-site CAD coaches. Furthermore, there is the opportunity to gain direct experience of trackside operations via our weekend command centre volunteer rota.
Composite Laminate Engineer – The Person
Candidate’s for this position will ideally have:
• A Mechanical Engineering Degree or significant laminating/manufacturing experience in a relevant industry
• Appreciation/exposure of CAD systems used in high level motorsport
• Knowledge and experience of composite pre-preg materials and manufacturing techniques
• Contribute positively to the group’s core objectives of making design improvements
Candidates must be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision and delivering high quality designs to critical deadlines. They will be a team player and possess excellent communication skills.
