Job Advert
Alpine Racing have placed Computational Fluid Dynamics at the heart of our aerodynamics development as we pursue the ultimate of on-track performance by exploiting cutting edge computational technologies, data analysis and engineering modelling techniques. We are looking for data scientists and data engineers to join us as we seek to use the phenomenal amount of data associated with CFD in the best possible way for ultimate car performance.
The candidate must have experience in handling large amounts of data, and understand how to assimilate and present modelled results to humans for quick and confident decision making.
CFD Data Engineer – The Role
CFD describes a class of low and high fidelity models for the purposes of determining flow conditions, each with imperfect inputs. Those flow conditions are then used by an aerodynamicist to infer decisions about car designs. The aerodynamicist’s experiences are used to determine whether approximations or limitations in the modelling approach are likely to impact design choices. The role of the CFD Data Engineer shall be to more formally assimilate results from low and high fidelity CFD models so that objective and repeatable assessments may be made for robust design by a team of aerodynamicists.
CFD Data Engineer – The Person
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to present large amounts of sometimes conflicting data in a way that is accessible to humans for the purposes of making engineering decisions. Working with large datasets to provide succinct analyses leading to better informed decisions and design choices, it should be a passion to remove human biases from decision making.
